Yesterday we drove from Quorn to Rawnsley Park in Wilpena Pound, via an electrically-challenged Hawker (a big storm earlier in the week had knocked out power through the town. As a result, our lunch options were somewhat limited!). But we arrived at Rawnsley without problem and enjoyed a sumptuous meal at the Woolshed Restaurant last night. We began the day today with a pre-breakfast bushwalk from our cabins. (Not that we needed to work up an appetite though as breakfast wasn’t much. Because we hadn’t made any prior arrangements, our breakfast consisted of a couple of dinky croissants and a packet of marmalade that we bought last night at the restaurant after our meal. No matter, the walk was very enjoyable of course.) As always, it is just great fun to stroll along and chat with Peter and Michele — all while taking in the breathtaking scenery. We did a loop that took us past the Kangaroo Gap Lookout and then we followed the trail to Alison Saddle, which overlooks our accommodations — and is where I took the photo below. This particular shot looks backwards though to capture the cairn the foreground and the wide, brown land behind it. Both Peter and June added a rock to the cairn. Gosh, I love this part of the world!
