Road trip!We agreed to meet June’s sister at the midpoint between Minneapolis and Louisville so that we could get her daughters back to her, which turned out to be a small town just north of Chicago. So at 8 am we all piled into the car (including Stubby) and hit the road for the approximately 6 hour drive to Marengo, IL. All was going well until we hit Chicago and we ended up losing about an hour crawling through the traffic. And then on the way back home, we lost about 1-1/2 hours again edging along in the traffic (and paying mightily in tolls for the privilege, I must say.) Needless to say, we had a lot of time to take in the Chicago skyline. Adding to 2-1/2 hours to what was already going to be a 12 hour driving day was something I could have done without, but even so, it wasn’t a bad drive at all. I’m always amazed at the distances that can be easily covered here, thanks to the freeway systems. Pulling back into the driveway at 11:30 pm that night I checked the odometer to see that we’d covered some 725 miles or about 1,160 kms. Not a bad day’s outing, and certainly the longest “ta-dahs” that Stubby has ever been on!
