After being off work yesterday to help with Aunt Helen’s move, there was a surprise waiting for me at work this morning. An email sent late yesterday from my friend Peggy who works at the advertising agency I used to work at (or at least an earlier incarnation of the agency that has grown a lot since.) Could I come down at lunchtime today to do a voice-over for them? It has been quite a few years since I’ve done any voice-overs (since I left the agency some 13 years ago really), so it was fun to get asked again. The client was an eyeglasses place and for the final tag they wanted someone with a “Euro” accent — and I guess Australian is close enough! I met the familiar faces of Chip and Aaron who ushered me into a really nice recording studio — much larger than the old recording booth at the old place. And I have to say it was a LOT of fun standing in front of the mic again being directed by Aaron. I have no idea if they’ll end up using my read, but it was nice to be thought of and be given the opportunity to keep my hand in. After the read, I got this shot of Chip and Aaron at the production desk.
