After easing into the morning with a bit of a sleep-in (thanks to June taking Stubby downstairs after he woke at his usual 6 am), the chores still need to be done. Right now the laundry is being handled by a frontload washer and dryer that we have on field test from work. The models are pre-production units, but they work like a charm. They’re a matching pair, but when a member of the laundry team came to the house a couple of weeks ago to run some tests, he told me the dryer was made in Mexico and the washer comes from China. Knowing GE I’m not totally surprised, but I still think it is interesting that matching products can made in two completely different countries.
June and I have a tradition of ending the week with an after-work cocktail. It’s chance to unwind and put us in the mood for the weekend to come. Tonight’s libation was a Moscow Mule — vodka, lime juice and ginger beer (not ginger ale) over ice. Happy TGIF!!
Australia Day! Unfortunately, it was just another day at the coal-face for this Aussie, but I did decorate my office door to share a bit of national pride with my colleagues.
I couldn’t quite work out what this doorway is for — does anyone else want to take a guess??
I’ve long been fascinated by this logo and how the negative spaces of the letters are used create the word. Because when you really look at it, this is simply a collection of odd shaped pieces of red plastic attached to a white wall. But when arranged and spaced like it is, our brains read “Express” instead of focusing on the random red shapes. Well, I find that interesting anyway!
Okay, I know this is essentially a repeat of a subject that I shot just a couple of weeks ago. However, after I finished my Subway lunch at the Oxmoor Mall and looked over the balcony, the scene before me seemed like it would work well with the Mobile Monet app that I have on my phone. And I think it does!
The group I volunteer with had a meeting this afternoon in downtown Louisville, and right next to the parking lot is a building with some colorful graffiti — a great subject for today’s iPhone photo.
